The questions North Texas families ask us most. Don't see yours? Call (817) 482-3900 — a real person answers.

What areas of North Texas do you serve?

We serve the entire Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and surrounding North Texas communities, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Arlington, Denton, Irving, Garland, and dozens more cities across Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, and Denton counties.

How quickly can care start?

In most cases, a nurse can complete the in-home assessment within 24–48 hours of your call, and care can begin shortly after. For hospital discharges, we prioritize same-week starts.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We accept private pay and many insurance plans, including Medicare Advantage plans. We verify your benefits before care begins so you know exactly what is covered — at no cost to you.

What is the difference between home health care and private duty nursing?

Home health care usually means intermittent skilled visits — a nurse comes for wound care, injections, or assessments. Private duty nursing is extended, one-on-one nursing care in the home, from hourly shifts up to 24/7 coverage, for patients with more complex medical needs.

What is respite care?

Respite care gives family caregivers a break. A professional caregiver or nurse takes over care at home for a few hours, a day, or longer, so you can rest, work, or travel with peace of mind.

Is AbleCare licensed in Texas?

Yes. AbleCare Home Health is licensed by Texas Health and Human Services as a Home and Community Support Services Agency, HHA license #024426.

How much does home health care cost?

Cost depends on the level of care and number of hours. Insurance-covered skilled visits may cost you little or nothing out of pocket; private pay care is billed by the hour or visit. We give you written pricing before care starts — no surprises.

Can I choose or change my caregiver?

Yes. We match caregivers to your family's needs and preferences, and if the fit is not right, we will make a change. Consistency matters, so we keep the same caregiver whenever possible.

Do you provide care after a hospital discharge?

Yes — post-hospital and post-surgical care is one of our most common requests. We coordinate with discharge planners to make the transition home safe and fast.

How do I get started?

Call (817) 482-3900 or submit the request form on our website. A care coordinator will call you back, usually within one business hour, to schedule a free in-home assessment.
