Cost, coverage, and what you sign
Private duty nursing is priced by the hour or by the shift, and the rate depends on the license level and the acuity of the care. Overnight and weekend hours are quoted separately so nothing is buried. You see the number in writing before the first shift, not after.
Many plans cover at least part of medically necessary private duty nursing, particularly for pediatric patients and for adults with ventilator or high-acuity needs.
